Kara + Justin: Bozeman, Montana

July 22, 2017

Meet Kara and Justin. They’re adventurers. And trust me, you want to be friends with them.

When they approached me with ‘Justin built his own canoe, would you be up for photographing us at Hyalite Reservoir?’ I knew it was true love.

Their whole day was so photogenic and fun (from Hyalite to the Rockin’ TJ Ranch in Bozeman) I’m still reeling over it. I could write a novel about all the radness of their wedding day, but I’d rather tell you with pictures. Have a look!

Steve & Tonya are Married

June 23, 2017

Well, this one was super special to me because I’ve known Tonya for years. First, she and Steve eloped to Mexico and I wasn’t able to go. *frowny face* Then, they told me they’d like to have me photograph their small legal ceremony here in Helena at gorgeous Reeder’s Alley. *happy dance*

It was such a wonderful experience, joining their parents and a couple of close friends as they gathered around the couple, and watching everyone take part and get emotional during the small, intimate ceremony on a perfect spring afternoon. (I was so much a part of the group that a couple of times they even stopped to check with me and make sure ‘I was getting what I needed.’ that was a new one for this wedding photographer.

I daresay, yes. We got what we needed and so much more. Congrats Tonya and Steve!

The Otterstrom Family is expecting! *plus* Tizer Gardens bonus images

May 26, 2017

Can I start with a confession? Until the Otterstrom’s maternity session, I had NEVER been to Tizer Botanic Gardens. The second we stepped in, I was wondering to myself ‘why have I not come here every single day?!’ It’s a photographers paradise and it’s only fifteen minutes from my house. Love, love, love.

With that being said, I could’ve photographed this trio (soon to be a quartet) pretty much anywhere and come away with beautiful, authentic images. I photographed Stacey and Odie’s wedding years ago and they’ve given me the wonderful privilege of photographing their growing family twice now. Their first daughter Ainsley, is a gorgeous sweet little girl who I know will make a great big sister ANY DAY NOW. Congrats Otterstrom Family!

Also, I couldn’t resist spending a little extra time photographing the gardens after our session and I had to include a few bonus images at the end of this post. Enjoy!

Photobooth: Roarin’ 20’s at the Rainbow Ranch Lodge

March 14, 2017

Did ya know? Wandering Albatross offers a professional photobooth for weddings, parties and events. And by photobooth, I mean a photographer-run, studio-size, crazy-infused setup, not a little box!

What a better way to make it official than a selection of awesomeness from the Rainbow Ranch Lodge’s recent Roarin’ 20’s party? This group was one of the best photobooth groups we’ve encountered yet: unguarded creativity *plus* amazing costumes.

Jess & Cary are engaged!

February 16, 2017

The secret is out. We have staggeringly gorgeous winter scenery here in Montana. Personally, I think it is at its best when the temperatures stay sane and beautifully happy couples like Jess and Cary use it as the backdrop for their engagement celebration. These two soak up every moment of their Big Sky visits and I’m honored that they called on me to join them for a snowy, cozy photo shoot at the stunning Rainbow Ranch Lodge. It also happens to be the venue for their wedding next fall so I’ll get to visit again when the ranch is in full autumn splendor. *photographer happy dance* Congratulations Jess and Cary!

Bryna & John are Hitched

April 24, 2016

Ever since their fabulous Anselmo Mine engagement session last August, I’ve been looking forward to Bryna and John’s Butte wedding like a little kid waiting for Christmas. It was a wedding doused whirlwind tour of all things Butte. We ran from the Finlen Hotel, to the historic Silver Bow county courthouse, to the Front Street Station, visiting uptown streets and sketchy alleyways in between. I loved every minute of it. Thanks Bryna and John for the unforgettable and fantastic introduction to Butte!Photography by Wandering Albatross PhotographyPhotography by Wandering Albatross PhotographyPhotography by Wandering Albatross PhotographyPhotography by Wandering Albatross Photographybrynajohnbloggroup1Photography by Wandering Albatross Photographybrynajohnbloggroup3Photography by Wandering Albatross PhotographyPhotography by Wandering Albatross PhotographyPhotography by Wandering Albatross PhotographyPhotography by Wandering Albatross PhotographyPhotography by Wandering Albatross Photographybrynajohnbloggroup14Photography by Wandering Albatross Photography

Bryna and John are Engaged!

September 28, 2015

I recently joined Bryna & John in Butte for a crazy-cool engagement session at the Anselmo Mine. It’s been so well preserved, I felt like at any minute, the whistle would blow and hoards of dirty, ragged workers would pour in around us. What an amazing piece of history.

Apart from the location being THE most interesting place I’ve ever done a photo session, Bryna & John were dynamite to work with! Their ‘go-for-it’ spirit filled the old spaces with new life and inspired moments. I am so looking forward to their Butte wedding in the spring.
